Project MOVE

Mentoring Opportunities for Vocation and Education (MOVE) serves Spokane area youth ages 16 -21 who are transitioning from high school and live with some type of disability. Because these youth lose the support systems provided by schools, they need guidance and encouragement from caring adults to explore their options, and ways to pursue a vocation or post-secondary education. Project MOVE facilitates one-on-one mentoring matches, helping youth achieve their personal goals, and bringing fulfillment and connection to community volunteers.

Project MOVE is one of nine demonstration programs funded in 2004 by the United States Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration. The program is modeled after the best practices, match support and coordination of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Northwest. Community-Minded Enterprises has also partnered with Washington Initiative for Supported Employment and the University of Washington to implement this program.
