Unity in the Community

Unity in the Community

Save the date to celebrate diversity at Unity in the Community Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Riverfront Park located in Downtown Spokane. We have already begun planning for the 2013 19th annual Unity in the Community. We have some very exciting new additions to the upcoming celebration and are very excited about the additional resources this will allow us to provide to the community. Continue to follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on all the announcements.

Community-Minded Enterprises serves as the hosting agency of Unity in the Community, the largest multicultural celebration in the Inland Northwest. Unity in the Community began in 1995 when community members sensed ethnic fragmentation in the Spokane community.  Unity in the Community was created to celebrate the strength of diversity and create an understanding between all races and cultures.

Since its start in 1995, Unity in the Community has continued to grow; promoting its mission of educating, showcasing, celebrating, and sustaining a diverse community.

Unity in the Community features five main areas:

  • The Cultural Villages
  • Career/Education Fair
  • Early Learning & Youth Villages
  • Health Fair
  • Cultural Entertainment

2012 Unity Events:

  • School Supplies Drive: Boxes were located at several drop-off locations around town to collect school supplies for local K-8 students in need. Through the work of our wonderful volunteers,  great fundraising activities and community support we were able to do our biggest school supply give away ever, we handed out over 800+ bags of school supplies to kids in our community at this year’s Unity celebration.
  • Up on the Roof-A Taste of Unity: This is an evening to raise money for the school supplies drive.
  • Unity Week:  The week leading up to Unity in the Community featured a variety of events hosted by local non-profits, community organizations and businesses.
