Youth Sustainability Council
The Youth Sustainability Council empowers youth to develop solutions
to the community problems they identify, deepening their sense of
ownership to the place where they live and increasing community
sustainability. The YSC is a gateway for youth seeking to enact
positive change in their world. Through it, motivated youth have an
opportunity to design and implement constructive projects that improve
their communities and encourage them to take leadership roles.
The YSC invests directly in our community through the community
improvement projects created by youth. Because these projects
reflect the perspectives of the youth involved in creating them, they
are able to take into account a wide social context that enables them
to serve the community in a uniquely comprehensive way.
YSC youth are working to create accessible neighborhood gathering
places where residents can socialize, share their ideas, and work
together to address important community-sustainability issues. The YSC
is also engaged in planning and implementing all of the other project
activities of the Community Minded Enterprises Youth Initiative.
