SUMMARY:Best Practices Series
DESCRIPTION:Best Practices Series\n\n\n\nSession 1 – Introduction to Best Practices: Interactions: This session will introduce best practices for teachers interacting with children individually\, in groups\, and among their peers. We will look at interactions that promote self-regulation and provide proactive tips to use every day. We will discuss interacting with children outside\, both verbally and playing alongside them\, and we will come away with ideas on how to get the most out of gross motor time.\nSession 2 – Introduction to Best Practices: Routines and Transitions: In this session\, participants will identify and apply knowledge of best practices around routines and transitions. Transitioning from one activity to another can be challenging for children and adults\, while routine activities can seem drab or boring. Engaging children in meaningful interactions can enhance children’s learning\, decrease challenging behaviors\, and improve the productivity of early learning settings. Come and explore how you can engage in powerful interactions during routines and transitions.\nSession 3 – Introduction to Best Practices: Learning Activities: This session will introduce best practices for maximizing children’s use of blocks\, fine motor\, dramatic play\, music\, and art materials. Come explore what research says about how children learn\, what adults can do to prepare these specific play areas\, and how adult-child interactions can complement children’s learning without interrupting it.\nSession 4 – Introduction to Best Practices: Math and Science: This session will introduce best practices for engaging math and science learning in early childhood settings. Participants will explore what the research says about early math and science experiences\, and how enriching materials and quality adult-child interactions can support math and science development throughout the day. This can ensure that children will gain the foundational skills and dispositions that will support their future success.\nSession 5 – Introduction to Best Practices: Languages and Literacy: This session will introduce best practices for engaging in rich interactions to promote language and literacy development. We will explore what research says about how children learn\, what adults can do to prepare the environment for success\, and how adult-child interactions can complement children’s learning without interrupting it.\n\n\nClass Details \n\n\n\nDate: Session 1: Wednesday\, October 1st\n\nSession 2: Tuesday\, October 14th\nSession 3: Wednesday\, October 22nd\nSession 4: Wednesday\, November 5th\nSession 5: Tuesday\, November 18th\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime: 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm per session\nLocation: VIRTUAL via ZOOM\nCost: $20 per session or $100 for whole series\nCredits: 12 STARS hours for full series\, 2-2.5 STARS hours for single session\n\nYOU MUST COMPLETE THE FULL SESSION TO GET STARS CREDIT \n\nMake up sessions are not offered\, *Partial Credit is NOT available\n\n\n\n\nLanguage: English\n\nImportant Notes: Spaces are limited—reserve your spot today by clicking the PD Ticket now!\nPD Ticket\n@Public

DESCRIPTION:FLIP-IT: by Devereux Center for Resilient Children/FLIP-IT: Centro Devereux para Niños Resilientes ( English with Spanish Interpretation)\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAs teachers and caregivers\, you may be seeking ways to support young children through complex emotions with healthy coping strategies.  The FLIP IT strategy offers a simple\, strength-based\, four-step process for the daily challenges in the environment and those challenging moments with young children.    During this training\, you will learn the four steps of FLIP IT\, which are designed to help children aged 3-8years learn about their feelings\, gain self-control\, and reduce challenging behaviors.  The four steps are embodied in the FLIP mnemonic: F- Feelings\, L-Limits\, I- Inquiries\, P- Prompts.  This is not a new concept\, but it can support a best practice that’s easy to remember\, usable in a variety of settings\, and portable\, allowing it to accompany you anywhere.   The purpose of this training is to build our understanding of the factors that contribute to children’s behaviors that challenge you\, review evidence-based strategies for reducing instances of challenging behavior\, and introduce a variety of learning tools to teach and support the FLIP IT way.  \n\nCertified FLIP IT trainer Lorri Hope teaches this virtual class.\n\n\nClass Details: \n\nDate: Session 1: Tuesday\, September 9\n\nSession 2: Thursday\, September 11\n\n\nTime: 6:15 pm – 8:15 pm\nLocation: VIRTUAL via ZOOM\nCost: $40.00\nCredits: 4 STARS hours\nLanguage: English with Spanish Interpretation\n\nImportant Notes: Spaces are limited—reserve your spot today by clicking the PD Ticket now!\nNotas importantes: ¡El cupo es limitado!
