Hands Across Spokane To Bring Together Dozens of Local Providers on World Mental Health Day

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 29th, 2025

Spokane, WA – With just under two weeks to go, momentum is building for Hands Across Spokane: a family-friendly Community Event and Resource Fair on Friday, October 10th, World Mental Health Day, at Community-Minded Enterprises’ North Central Community Mental Health & Development Center.

Hands Across Spokane carries forward the spirit of Hands Across the Falls, which once united people to join hands across the Monroe Street Bridge in remembrance of those lost to substance use disorder. Hands Across Spokane expands that legacy with a broader focus for visibility, inviting people across Spokane to share photos of joined hands with the hashtag #HandsAcrossSpokane as a reminder that no one has to face mental health struggles alone. On October 10, that message takes physical form in a community event that connects people directly to resources and support.

Celebrating Connection
The Hands Across Spokane Community Event & Resource Fair is a coordinated effort to bring some of Spokane’s strongest community resources together in one place. Dozens of organizations will be present, offering access to behavioral health care, housing assistance, recovery programs, legal aid, and family support. Mobile health clinics will be present with free screenings, vaccine education, naloxone (Narcan) kits, and more.
The resource fair also creates space for community. Local food trucks, music, and activities make it easy for families and neighbors to spend time together while connecting with support resources. At 1:00 PM, attendees will be invited to join hands for a group photo to demonstrate, together, that Spokane values mental health and the people who live here.
“Our hope is that Hands Across Spokane reminds people they’re not alone, and that Spokane as a community stands together for mental health,” said Tim Sigler, LICSW, Director of Behavioral Health & Recovery Services at Community-Minded Enterprises. “When people see their friends, neighbors, and leaders showing up for mental health, it changes how they see it. And that change can save lives”
Hands Across Spokane is made possible thanks to the support of sponsors including ICCU, Canopy Credit Union, Parkview Early Learning Center, Jasmin Group, TakeAll Coalition, and Allen|Fischer Law, alongside dozens of local partners who will be on site October 10th.
Everyone is invited to take part in Hands Across Spokane. Join us at the Resource Fair on October 10th to connect with local providers and celebrate community. Be part of the photo campaign by sharing your own joined-hands picture with #HandsAcrossSpokane, and help spread the word so others know where to find support and connection.
