Child Care Aware of Eastern Washington Gears Up to Celebrate Child Care Provider Appreciation Day with a Virtual Event to Honor These Essential Workers

Spokane, Wash.  – Child Care Aware of Eastern Washington – a program of Community-Minded Enterprises (CME) is recognizing child care providers as part of Child Care Provider Appreciation Day on May 7.

“We are excited to be hosting a Child Care Provider Appreciation night again this year. The celebration will be via Zoom, but the sentiment is the same. Child care providers are heroes,” said Suzanne Suyama Child Care Aware Supervisor – Southeast Washington. “This event is our small way of honoring their great work.”

For this year’s Child Care Provider Appreciation night, we are co-hosting with Child Care Aware of Northwest Washington.  The event is scheduled for May 6, 6:00pm – 8:00pm via Zoom. There will be games, prizes and special guests including a representative from Governor Jay Inslee’s office and early learning champion Rep. Tana Senn, who chairs the House Children’s Youth and Family Committee.

Child Care Aware of Eastern Washington, with offices in Spokane and Pasco supports child care providers through online and on-site coaching and professional development in eleven counties in Eastern Washington.  “We are committed to providing resources and assistance to child care providers in the region,” said Lee Williams, CEO of Community-Minded Enterprises. “The work these early learning professionals do is so important to the community especially when the need is so great,” Williams added.

Child Care Aware of Eastern Washington’s services are available to all child care providers in the region in their first language.  Nine of our 28 staff are bilingual in English/Spanish to serve the needs of monolingual Spanish speakers.  In addition to offices in Spokane, and Pasco CCA of Eastern WA has coaches in Pullman and Walla Walla. In all, CCA of Eastern WA serves nearly 600 child care providers working in centers, school-age programs and family homes.
